Ford Racing Intake ManifoldThe high performance kit is designed to offer a substantial improvement in both low and high RPM performance when used as a stand alone modification, but more than that, it is key to the basic system approach when used with all our other high performance components. This kit will include 34 lb. injectors, air meter and fuel rails. The manifold is what we call a Variable Geometry design, by which we can change the runner length according to the RPM of the engine. This results in a very broad torque curve. The low RPM torque (often a problem with multiple valve engines) is greatly increased by using long runner lengths, and airflow for high RPM operation is maximized when the manifold changes to the short runner configuration. The engine now pulls right to the RPM limit without ever running out of breath. Cast from magnesium alloy for lowest possible weight. NOTE: Computer not included. For 1996-97 Mustang Cobra applications use computer M-12650-T467.

 | This is a racing version of the MOO8182 Intake Manifold Assembly. It has the same Variable Geometry feature to improve low RPM torque. This will be especially useful in road race application. The throttle body is positioned in the identical spot as the 1999 and later Mustang Cobra. The production Cobra throttle body is recommended for all race applications. The kit does not include fuel rails, injectors, or air meter, as it is anticipated that injector choice and engine management systems will vary with the application. Throttle linkage, vacuum routing, etc. is left to race team discretion. The actuator for the runner change is included.

Basic runner and plenum geometry was based on extensive dynamometer testing, and, when installed with the previously described high performance cylinder heads, creates an optimized induction system. The manifold primary runners were designed for maximum airflow using state-of-the-art fluid flow modeling software. Airflow testing has demonstrated a manifold flow loss of less than 10% when compared to bare inlet port with ideal entry conditions. This amount of flow loss is considered to be very low and is less than half the restriction of a typical production manifold. Large diameter primary runners produce a significant horsepower increase in the 4000 to 6000 RPM range without loss of mid-range torque. The intake manifold and installation hardware kits include: inlet duct, dual bore throttle body, shock tower brace (except 1998), and all necessary lines, hoses, and attaching hardware. No hood or hood blanket modifications are required. Service gasket M-9439-D461 manifold intermediate joint gasket. Not compatible with California or Green States emission equipped vehicles.
